Right now we earn nothing from any link on this site. We are in the process of joining retailer affiliate programs, and when that happens some links will start paying us a small commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. This page will say so plainly, and every page carrying such a link will carry a notice.
Nobody pays to be featured. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not accept payment for a favourable review, and no manufacturer sees a guide before it is published.
Every recommendation names its drawback. If a product has a real weakness, and everything does, it is stated in the same block as the praise rather than buried. If the best answer to a question is to spend less money or nothing at all, we say that, which is why our meteor shower guide tells you to leave the telescope indoors and our gift guide tells you to drive somewhere dark instead of buying anything.
We do not recommend a product solely because it pays better. Where two products are close, the cheaper one gets the recommendation. Prices are checked on the date shown on each guide and will drift; treat them as a guide to the tier rather than a quote.
We are direct about this because most gear sites are not. Our guides are built from manufacturer specifications, retailer stock and pricing data, and the published findings of reviewers who have handled the equipment, combined with the physics that does not change: aperture determines light grasp, field of view determines what fits in the frame, and the instrument you carry outside beats the one you do not. Where a claim rests on someone else's hands-on testing rather than ours, we do not dress it up as our own.
If you think a recommendation here is wrong, tell us and we will look again. Write to hello@liquidspacetime.com.
